Okay since Twitter never seems to quite shut up about her:
Who is Lana Del Ray and why does everyone hate her?
She’s a singer with a new record out. She’s got a somewhat marmitey vocal style that goes from deep-and-lazy (Kind of Florence from F+TM on a soporific) to enya floaty between tracks. She was on the Daniel Radcliffe episode of Saturday Night Live, and didn’t quite nail the performance. Radcliffe then defended against the resulting twitter-backlash, and now everyone has to have an opinion.
Also, her dad got rich from being domain squatter, and her interviews about her music style tend towards the overreaching, beyond her perceived talent.
In conclusion, someone went looking for a new Rebecca Black to shit upon, and so now everyone hates Del Ray.
(I actually quite liked the track, though not enough to do anything about it).
